She Cries

Filled with sadness and pain,
she cries as he boards the train for that long goodbye.
Standing on the platform,
she watches with sadness in her eyes as he looks
her way through the train's window; she cries.
Leaving the salty sea air of that California coast town on that
eastbound train, he thinks of their wonderful life together
filled with laughter, joy and their love reign.
His hand pressed against the window, their eyes deeply locked,
with a tear running down his cheek, she cries.
They talk on the phone awaiting the train's departure,
drying their eyes and confessing their love for one another
as they have done many times before.
She anxiously waits his return, each day more painful;
a pain that never hides.
She cries.

Sometimes life keeps people, who care deeply for each other, apart.
